The NSP occurrence is plotted as being located at an elevation of approximately 1300 metres on a north facing slope over looking the East Barriere River, approximately 8 kilometres east of the east end of East Barriere Lake.

Regionally, the area is located near the contact between the mid-Cretaceous Baldy Batholith, the Upper Proterozoic to Lower Cambrian Graffunder Lakes unit and a late Devonian orthogneiss unit, both of the Eagle Bay Assemblage. Locally, the Eagly Bay Assemblage is a series of low- grade meta sedimentary and meta volcanic rocks. These areas are comprised of micaceous quartzite, grit, phyllite and quartz mica schist, accompanied by minor amounts of chlorite schist, limestone, calcareous phyllite, calc-sillicate schist and amphibolite.

Locally, chalcopyrite occurs as disseminations and in thin quartz stringers parallel to the foliation in quartz-biotite gneiss.
